Plantar Fasciitis

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a condition where the thick ligament running along the bottom of the foot becomes inflamed, causing pain in the heel and arch.

Common symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

  1. Heel Pain: The pain is usually most severe in the morning or after a period of inactivity. It may subside after walking for a while.

  2. Arch Pain: Pain in the arch of the foot may be less severe than heel pain but still causes discomfort.

  3. Tightness in the Arch: Patients may feel tightness in the arch, especially when waking up in the morning.

  4. Pain Worsening After Activity: Pain may worsen after activities involving effort, such as running, jumping, or standing for a long time.

  5. Numbness or Tingling in the Foot: This may occur if the plantar fascia compresses a nerve.

Other symptoms that may occur:

  • Swelling in the heel area

  • Redness around the heel

  • Tenderness when pressing on the heel
